Farm Update - September 2026
The days are shorter, the sunlight is slantier, and we here at Upriver Organics are really beginning to feel the onset of fall. We hope you have had as wonderful of a summer season as we have. Just like our plants, we have been soaking in the warmth and sunshine as much as we can while it's here. But as our crew's morning meetings get a little bit chillier each day, I can't help but feel excited for this season of crunchy leaves and warm beverages.
As we dive headfirst into our fall task list, we figured it was time for an update from the farm!

Autumn on the Farm
The farm is always a beautiful storm of activity, from transplanting to weeding to pruning and beyond, but we wanted to share with you a few of the recent highlights, along with some farmstand news.
Harvests always grow steadily heavier into the cold season as we bring in winter storage crops from the field. Our big winter squash harvest is currently underway, and our crew has been working hard to bring in literal tons of pumpkins, delicata, kabocha, butternut, and acorn squash to store and enjoy all winter long. It's great practice for the notoriously hefty task of harvesting sweet potatoes, which will happen later this fall. But the extra stretching each day to soothe the sore muscles is totally worth it to get to enjoy such a delicious medley of autumn delicacies.
In sadder news, we officially have a closing date for our farmstand. We wanted to thank all of you who came to the farm this year to share in the joy of picking blueberries and eating local sweet treats, baked goods, meats, honey, and of course, produce with us. We love getting to welcome people into our quirky cob building and its courtyard to enjoy summer's abundance to its fullest. Our last day open this year will be Sunday, September 27th*.
*Please note that Ozcar's food truck has already closed for the season.
Where to Find Us in Fall and Winter
The growing season will soon be winding to an end, but you can still find us in a few spots throughout the cold season:
Farmers Market
For market-goers, we will continue to be at the Saturday Farmers Market until the final market on December 19th! There will be a short winter break, but we will be back soon after that.
Local Grocery Stores
You can find our produce and frozen blueberries at various local grocery stores all throughout the growing season and through the fall and winter. We can often be found at Main Street Market in Springfield, Friendly Street Market, Sundance Produce, the Leaburg Store, and Capella Market, to name a few.
Frozen Blueberries
If you find yourself in need of a refill of fresh and local sugar, we will have 5-gallon buckets of this years' crop for several months to come. Just reach out if you'd like to order a bucket!
Fill Your Pantry Events
Fill Your Pantry is an annual bulk-buying event where the community can load up on all the good storage crops, pickles, dry beans, grains, and more! You can pre-order from dozens of local farms on one website, and then pick up your orders at the in person in early November (see dates below).
We will be bringing lots of root veggies, squash, and alliums, along with our frozen blueberries to the FYP events this year. If you can't make it, or this event isn't your speed, you can also reach out about placing bulk crop orders with us directly!
Lane County Fill Your Pantry
When: October 1-31 (for pre-order), and November 8th (for pickup)
Where: Lane Events Center Agricultural Pavilion
Central Oregon Fill Your Pantry
When: October 18th to 28th (for pre-order), and November 7th (for pickup)
Where: Deschutes County Fairgrounds
2026 Fall CSA: Shares Still Available!
We still have a bit of space available in our Fall CSA, or CropShare, membership, which begins in just over a month! The fall season is a great option if you've never been in a CSA before, and want to try out a short season to get a sense of it. We load our fall boxes up with amazing storage crops that imbue the darker season with a lot of nutrition, flavor, and joy!

The Fall Season runs from October 21st - November 18th with deliveries every week (5 boxes in total).
Shares are offered in a Full or Small size.
Member benefits include 20% discounts at the farmers market, weekly newsletters with updates and recipes, and some gleaning opportunities! More details can be found on our website.

Payment Options
If you are interested in a CropShare but are wary of the cost, we'd like to point your attention to the following resources and options:
If you are a SNAP recipient, consider paying for your CropShare with your SNAP benefits. If you sign up to do this, PNWCSA (a local non-profit) will cover up to 50% of your CropShare and can run your benefits on a monthly basis!
We are happy to break share costs into two smaller payments. You can select this option at checkout on our website and select "Pay Later" in the final Paypal portal.
If you're not eligible for SNAP but still need financial assistance we still have a limited low-income fund option that can partially subsidize the cost of a share.
