Meet the Staff: Bean

Many of you may already know Bean, one of our friendly faces at market! But here are some things you may not have known...

Where are you from?

I am from Tucson, Arizona!

What led you to the farm?

I have been shopping at LCFM and WWOOFing for years, but then a friend of mine started working for market and mentioned she might need a hand...the rest is history!

What's your favorite crop on the farm?

My favorite crop is probably cherry tomatoes or carrots - they're delicious little snacks, they're both fun to harvest and lovely happy colors!

Do you have a favorite market task?

My favorite market task is customer relations (ha ha). Yes, I am making that task up, but I honestly am a huge chatterbox and I love all my regulars. I think it's such a special feeling to go shopping at market and have a relationship with the people growing and selling your food!

What's your favorite way to enjoy our produce?

My favorite way to cook or enjoy produce is through pasta - I love making fun pasta (in my picture I'm holding pea shaped ravioli filled with fresh peas, ricotta and mint) with all the fun seasonal flavors!

What's a hidden talent or unique hobby/interest of yours?

Ok so I have always been petrified of talent shows because none of my talents are particularly showable! But I have many interesting hobbies! I've been really enthralled with butchery and sausage/cured meat making lately, and recently tanned my first sheephide, which I make everyone look at when they come to my house.

I love languages (my degree is in linguistics) and I taught myself Italian before going to a farm in Italy to study cheesemaking which was super fun, but I need more practice!

What's your favorite way to spend a day off?

Winter: Glass of red wine, juicy book, cozy blanket, woodstove, done.

Summer: Glass of white wine, juicy book, picnic blanket, sunburn, done.
